A striata and subsp falcata From Starr Nursery

#1

Post by Fairview »

The pony express dropped off 2 each of striata and subsp falcata from Starr Nursery today on my porch. Subsp falcata on the left. Beyond my expectations. Have them potted up in 1 gallon containers. I could probably plant them now but being it's the end of October coupled with Texas weather, I'm gonna babysit them in their containers until spring.

They look big! Mine bloomed this summer and is making an alternate head of leaves. The seed were all light whitish or tan so assume not fertile. Big disappointment a sI really like this plant. Especially a bigger one starting to trunk in the bluish green leaf color.

Went for a closer look and it has three or four axial buds in there. Hard to see for the weeds and other agaves. Will wait until next summer to decide if I want to try hacking a couple off to restart. I like the bluish ones.
