There would certainly be less weather if we stopped talking about it.

Inch and a half here so far -- and plenty more to go. I'm probably gonna get 2.5"- 3" outta this. That is 6 months worth or rain.

Not quite as much over here. Weather stations in the neighborhood range from 0.70-0.84", so I will say ~0.77" at the moment, but still going. We got about 1.1" for all of December in my area, so as you say Ron the rains from this storm system represents a significant amount of rain from a yearly perspective.

It is Saturday morning, and the storm seems to be moving on out of Southern California. Over towards the coast it looks clear, and inland there are patchy low clouds. But radar shows yet another cell due in in an hour or so.

My Rain Gauge shows two and three quarters inches for this series of two storms; the first one delivered 1.5" and yesterdays storm totaled 1.25".

We experienced a lot of wind in the afternoon hours, but flooding seems to have been less than was predicted to be possible in the Flash Flood Warning.

A new storm predicted to be even more potent will be rolling Southwesterly into California tonight, due into San Diego tomorrow starting around mid-day! ::roll::

Five hour power out, potted plants blown all over the yard, 2"+ rain, with a third storm blowing in Monday.

Enough already. This is starting to damage my calm.

Very strong winds here and it may not crack 50°F today. More of the same tomorrow, then tomorrow night, deluge #3 begins and continues through Monday night. The ground here doesn't absorb water easily, and runoff can flow across roads, even highways and homes. I'm up high so no flood worries, but I may need to cancel my habitat excursion Tuesday.

10.6" this month, 2.25" this system, and more to come. We're having a lull right now so I just mixed up some copper solution and gave everything outside a good spray. Saw a bobcat while checking on things last week. Today's sighting was a bald eagle :)

Nice....bobcat and eagle. :U
Funny, I just was outside spraying too, and got a couple of blue fingertips to show for it. Some plants looking bad last week that I sprayed are looking no worse, so the fungus which causes the dark rings to appear and spread have been halted. Not taking any chances though.
A nice break from rain here....
Only .2 during the day yesterday, .2 more overnight, and nothing so far today. Nice break giving the land a chance to drain a bit hereabouts.
Our monthly total is nearly the same as yours at 11.1". Seasonal total now 23 1/4", and it's supposed to rain for real tonight, and if that's the case, we would likely break last season's total by tomorrow AM.
Really enjoying the "warm" temps now. It's saying something when I go out early, it's 42F, and it feels quite warm. :))

Clear & sunny in LA, perfect for the protest march today, which was estimated at 750,000 people.
Nevertheless, for the record, one of my signs was about climate change.

More- heavy rains tonight. 4 and third this month and 10.16" for the whole season so far. My,mildew, fungus and moss garden is thriving! Mmmm, nothing like everything looking like a rotting banana. Hibiscus blooms get that gray mold on them faster then they can fall off.
What a year. 57f,when last year we were in the mid 60's. The good old days.

If you chucked it all into a blender, synthesized it, filtered it out... the bottom line is they're protesting Time.

4 years worth, to be precise.

I know why they are protesting, I was being facetious. lol

Protesting wouldn't be my cup of tea, but if people want to then have at it.

All of this rain has sure been putting a damper on me enjoying the few months of cool weather we have left. :8:

I kind of figured that. ::wink:: I was too.

Nothing to speak of rain-wise for yesterday, but another 1.1" overnight, which now pushes us past last season's rainfall total. Last year on this date, we had 14.1" of rain season-to-date, and by 4/22 - 24.1" total for the 2015-2016 season. Our local total here in this little piece of northern California is now 24.3", and 12.2" of that has come so far in the month of January. With months of rainy season yet in front of us, and the way things are going, it looks like we can beat last season's total by as much as 50-100%. My guess is we won't be hearing the D word very much this year.

High winds last night. SO far so good. I've seen worse winds..that snapped large Podocarpus gracilor branches off- and sent them sailing all over to crash down. None of that straight down with gravity-lol.
Sun today in the bay area so far...more rains by 3pm.
I heard Los Angeles is getting- or will get- the largest storm in 7 years today or Monday? Is that still valid?

That's what they are saying...

It has been raining and windy in San Diego since about 3:30 PM.

It is about 7:15 PM now and we have had a little over 1/2 inch with no end in sight... It is supposed to rain all night and all day tomorrow, with some rain erratically on Tuesday. So quite a bit more to come!

A Flood Warning remains in effect for the San Diego River, The San Luis Rey River, and the Santa Margarita River. The San Diego River was at flood stage even before the rain started...

A High Surf Warning remains in effect. The surf has been literally huge (consistently over 10 feet, and erratically approaching 20 feet) since yesterday, even though the entire coast looks like footage from the opening credits of the old World War II news serial films Victory at Sea.

They closed the Mission Bay Entrance Channel to all boat traffic today, detouring all boat entries to San Diego Bay; along with forbidding all pedestrians on the jetties and some of the piers in the county. There were a lot of surfers riding big waves that were mostly breaking jetty-to-jetty completely across and throughout the Mission Bay Entrance Channel.

A High Wind Warning , a Coastal and Offshore Gale Warning, and a Flash Flood Warning are in place throughout Southern California tonight and all day tomorrow. Right now the wind is coming consistently out of the South at about twenty knots.

Snow levels are expected to fall to 2,500 feet tonight, with Winter Storm Warnings in effect for the entire Sierra Nevada and all of the Southern California Mountain Ranges.

You guys in Arizona better put leashes on all your potted plants...and dig out your snowshoes... D))

Just checked the forecast, and rain has been bumped back about 12 hours, so my Tuesday habitat excursion is definitely cancelled. I had an alternate plan up north, but with snow on the ground and a high in the thirties, I think I'll pass... ::roll::

Looks like we were lucky. 1.8" only, and pretty gently & consistently. I did manage to spray some systemic anti-fungal on what seemed like the mostly vulnerable xeric plants, but I drizzled a little afterwards. I will try again tomorrow afternoon. So far so good. 52º right now.

Snow...shoes? Not familiar with either of those things. Like, some special kind of flip flops?

We'll get a little rain..about another half inch and the pool will start to overflow! My biggest worry is that we're supposed to get all the way down to 31 on wednesday night and I won't be able to gloat about my tomatoes anymore. That and my A. utahensis might rot.
