Got a Bunch of Paper Spine Cactus from Etsy

#1

Post by Fairview »

I like paper spine cactus. The one I had was doing really good, added 2 segments this year and then got attacked by a bunch cochineal scale or red spider mites. Both new segments fell off. Bought this off Etsy and what I received was anything but. Can't complain about the quanity but no where close to what the seller has pictured on the post.
Seller's posting, really nice

I've had a few surprises like that. Never pleasant. To look at the bright side, I think this species grows quickly and easily (sez Arizona's agave killer
:) ) so you may have a good crop in 6 months time. The few I bought all easily lost the top section, but they rooted quickly and now I have more than I thought I would.

It looks like it was different segments grouped together in the same container, then separated . I wouldn’t worry, they are hardy to about 15°F. Stick them in a container and they will take off.
