Agaveville

Around 15 years ago I bought an Agave from Yucca Do. It was described in the catalog as a smaller version of A. bovicornuta. It grew to about 28' tall, maybe a little wider, and the inflorescence was around 10' tall. That was about three years ago, but I left the stump undisturbed, hoping that some offsets would develop. None did, but the crown eventually produced a couple of 3' tall flowering spikes, and I just sprouted a few seeds from those pods.

I was hoping someone might be able to offer suggestions based on the Yucca Do description.

That would be around the same time that Shady Oaks was selling TC plants. Bovicornuta was one of the species they were selling. I can't know this but perhaps Yuccado was selling such plants. Here's a link to the now defunct (as far as I know) company.

Perhaps the name you're looking for might be Agave cupreata.

Agave cupreata is very cold sensitive and might not withstand living in the ground in Phoenix. Mine had severe leaf damage in my greenhouse during a power outage last month when the temp droped to 25.2 deg.

I had a seed grown cupreata in the ground here in Goodyear, Az for about 5 years with no temp related issues, it was however protected by the canopy of a mesquite tree. It was ultimately removed when we lost the mequite to wind. I wouldn't mind growing a few more of them they are attractive. I think there is a photo of mine in the gallery.
