In search of Macro x Potatorum & Isthmensis

#1

Post by RMJ_214 »

Hey everyone— I have been really getting into Xeric landscaping the past year. I live in Plano TX (North Texas). This past year I planted some awesome Americana, Yucca Filifera, and Box Cactus on a slightly raised burn. All seem to be doing really well so far through their first winter.

As my Borden grows during the cold season, I have shifted my love to growing some more compact ornamental varieties indoors under LED lights. (Titanota, Oteroi, Potatorum, Horrida, etc)

I have found most of the really amazing new hybrids are seemingly all in Asia? I really have a hard time agreeing to shipping costs that are far greater than plant value…so I figured I would ask if anyone here has some pups, or even mature plants they would want to sell/trade.

Primarily looking for a macro x Potatorum hybrid, as well as some nice powdery looking Isthmensis.

Cheers!

Contact Jeremy Spath of Hidden Agave and check availability. He grows several forms of isthmensis, but you may have to check availability through email. He also has a number of hybrids including some that are not listed on his site. Agave potatorum ‘spawn’ is not far off in appearance from the hybrid you mentioned.

Greg Starr at Starr Nurseries also has macroacantha x 'Kichijokan', called 'Oaxacan Spine'.

Wow going to check out Starr's website. I just read his agave book, and visited his page maybe a week ago. Thanks for reminding me-- Also reached out to Jeremy at Hidden.

I have some pups off some nice isthmensis I would be willing to sell. Can share photos of the mother plants as well. I also have pups off some cool hybrids I've collected over the years too. Shoot me an email at devinpfeil@gmail.com
