Hello all! I'm Sasha Rae..
I've only become interested in this plant madness in the summer of 2017.. found a crazy variety at my local Walmart, before I knew it I was discovering all kinds of drought resistant plants I'd never noticed before or heard of. Then I somehow came across information of a (from what I understand) famous nursery that was closing down business- Yucca Do Nursery. I made an appointment to visit the owner, Wade, in Giddings, TX to see what I could buy. His knowledge and experiences blew me away and open my eyes to a new hobby I would find myself going overboard with! I learned a lot and after a couple of repeat road trips I had quite a few hard to find plants and some hybrids that he himself created.
Last year I had a baby (my first child) and with everything that came with that my plants took a back seat. I lost quite a few to neglect but have been in the process of re-potting what I have and getting a spot set up that all the plants will happy with. I'm most fond of agave but cacti have been catching my attention more and more over the last few months. I was so happy to come across this forum, I still feel so clueless as to how to care of these plants so I look forward to all I'll learn here. It will be nice to share my experiences with others that share this same enthusiasm since most people in my life aren't interested at the same level as I! Apart from my husband, who has been patient and has found ways to share my interest so that we can enjoy it together and I've been very grateful for that.
If you're still reading, thank you for letting me make my presence known and I look forward to sharing and learning with everyone here! My goal is to have a place where my collected plants can thrive and where I can relax and enjoy them despite the rainy and muggy climate that is Houston, TX!
