I didn’t see a tag around that one. There were a few of them throughout the garden, it seemed like they tagged only one of each species. It doesn’t have the color on the margins, so maybe it’s Shawii ssp. Goldmaniana or like you said Avellanidens. Although the leaf form to me looks closer to Shawii.Thanks.

OK most of the unlabeled big ones like that are avellanidens. I'd be surprised to see shawii fully exposed like that, plus it looks awfully big. The slightly crinkled leaves are another clue - the clone of A. a. they have tends to do that.

I think you’re right, it’s just a different form of Avellanidens than most of what Ive seen pictured. It was larger than Shawii that I’ve seen, wasn’t stacked, nor did it have the excessive offsets/clustering. I’ll move the picture. Thanks for your help.
