I picked up this at Plants for the Southwest, labeled A. chrysoglossa hybrid. This is different from the other hybrid I have, from the same grower (second photo below).
It's got a nicer shape to the leaf, and colors up pink with stress. Looking forward to growing and sharing it...

Look at this mess! No blooms yet. I don't recall, did we determine with some certainty that this is a chrysoglossa hybrid, or was that just a theory?

Agave
"American aloe plant," 1797, from Greek Agaue, proper name in mythology (mother of Pentheus), from agauos "noble," perhaps from agasthai "wonder at".
"Some talk the talk, others walk the walk, but I stalk the stalk"
No certainty - it's what Gene Joseph suspects, but IIRC it predates his time at the AZ-SO Desert Museum. It seems reasonable...mine hasn't bloomed yet either but I did move it!
Mine came from the DBG fall sale in 2011, but clearly the same agave.
