What a 116 year old Avocado tree looks like

I've seen that and its probably down to its last few decades. I've seen some big ones around the bay area- not THAT big,but big,and they never have an open crown of foliage. That opening is what I've seen of various trees near the end.
I still can't get over how the SF Chronicle gushed over a 30' Avocado tree as biggest in the city. There are 60' Avocados in Haysticks. I would say that is about a foot a year of growth and lots of lawn water.
You see that tree i posted? I was told by "experts" on the Tropical Fruit Board that the bay area was too cold for Avocados. One from socal was lauded by the others for his "knowledge".
Btw, My Uncle and Aunt bought a home in this neighborhood with his G.I. bill around 1960. The homes are post WW2..maybe 1955. The Washingtonia were planted in front of every home by the city..hundreds. So those would be near 70 years old. One still has boots.
