It's interesting to see what everyone else is growing.
What's going well? What's struggling?
I've got various cacti and succulents on the go at the moment with pretty good germination rates. Sowing agave montana and ovatifolia (40 of each) tomorrow and trying yuccas for the first time as I got a pack of 20 yucca rigida seed thrown in with my seed order.
Right now, mostly seeds collected from my own plants, knowing they're probably not pure species. Agave 'Dianita' and a few aloes (gariepensis, broomii x gariepensis, claviflora, globuligemma). Also a couple Albuca species and a couple aloes from Mesa Garden (petrophila zero germination, and a couple chlorantha are growing).
From Silverhill seeds Stapelia leendetziae, 9 pricked out today, Aloe ecklonis about a dozen and 3 Aloe rouxii although one doesn't look like it will make it.
Also a couple of Chinese hybrid Ariocarpus from my good friend Ralph Martin.
I actually had really poor luck with Agave seeds indoors this past winter but a few things are still slowly establishing. I am trying some asperrima that hopefully crossed with parryi v neomexicana from Jan Emming.
Other successes are a whole bunch of native grasses, some Purschia species, Aquilegia and a few hesperaloe cultivars. I started more Yucca madrensis since it’s a rare plant around here and they seem to survive where few other desert plants will.
I’m completely loaded up on starts from the previous four years so I don’t honestly need to start anything else.
Since the start of 2025, I seriously got in to seeds sowing and purchased seeds from Kohres Kakteen, Uhlig Kakteen, Rarepalm seeds, Kakteen Hage, Mesa Gardens various sellers at ebay and Etsy. Then there were seeds sent by few member of Agaveville and collected from my own plants. After wasting a few lots initially due to my lack of experience, I think now I have started developing techniques better suited for my area. The last lot of seeds that I received from Mesa Garden had a very good germination rate in many species. Of course, the quality of seeds matters a lot.
Mostly I have grown cactus seeds but have also been growing aloes, agaves, pchypodiums and my favourite, plants from Family Burseracae.
Agave 'Dianita'
A. chiapensis
A. utahensis
A. mckelveyana × A. utahensis
Fouquieria shrevei
Gasteria acinacifolia
All doing well indoors.

"American aloe plant," 1797, from Greek Agaue, proper name in mythology (mother of Pentheus), from agauos "noble," perhaps from agasthai "wonder at".
