Everyone sharing seedlings has me wanting to show off some of mine. I think I started all of these last year, but can't remember exactly when. Some from alplains and some from meangreen:
Echinocactus texensis (single one front right)
Echinocereus coccineus (middle row of 4)
Echinocereus reichenbachii (back single one)
Ignore the baby dragon fruit on the left
The E. texensis seeds had a great germination rate, but I guess my lights weren't bright enough and they started dying off when I didn't move them outside fast enough. Only one made it.
The E. coccineus had a decent germination rate, and have seemed to be happy regardless of conditions. Moving them outside caused them to start growing like crazy. They were all around the same size when I brought them outside and repotted a month or two ago.
The E reichenbachii seeds didn't have too many pop up. The one that did pop up has been slow and steady.

Re: Seedlings
They are cute little things.
Can't wait for the middle ones to start blooming. Now that you have me thinking of them, I think I'll put them in the ground soon so they'll grow faster and get there sooner. I wonder how many years it will be.
I think they are closer to 1.5 years if i recall correctly, but I could be wrong. Either way, they are growing slow since they only get morning sun. The tallest one is probably 2-3" tall.
They have some dichondra that joined them, but I like it so I leave it. Except for when it gets too close to the horse crippler.

Re: Seedlings
I think it's a pretty good growth in 1.5 years, specially conccineus and reichenbachii. A bit more sun will be better I guess.

Re: Seedlings
I acquired some Chinese hybrid Ariocarpus seed which I showed end of Feb. No sign of anything and I was just about to give up when 1 appeared yesterday.
Hopefully others will follow now.

Re: Seedlings
I have some Thelocactus setispinus seedlings that all started a few months ago, and then just in the past couple of weeks a new batch decided to pop up.mickthecactus wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2026 12:24 am I acquired some Chinese hybrid Ariocarpus seed which I showed end of Feb.
