An Agave and Aloe or two in the Berkeley hills

#1

Post by David Feix »

This is a garden I designed and built back in 2004, and I've had the good fortune of caring for the garden ever since, so 14 years now. It's a small front yard but a much larger back yard. Great garden to work in with the views of San Francisco, the Bay and the views of 3 bridges. Nothing rare here, just Agave attenuata, Aloe striata, Agave parryi and an Aloe thraskii hidden behind the flowering Metrosideros collina tree.

There is some yellow-orange Monkey Flower, Mimulus 'Pamela' creeping over the wall above, and chartreuse foliage of Coleonema pulchrum 'Sunset Gold' at the street.

I think might be Aeonium x barbatum, which is simsii x spathulatum - that is what you get in England if you buy A. simsii. A. simsii has narrower leaves with a more fimbriate margin - here in habitat at Gran Canaria.
